My Cornwall Wedding is Cornwall Council’s dedicated wedding service and the only provider of legal civil wedding ceremonies in Cornwall. Their Celebrant Registrars deliver legally recognised ceremonies ranging from intimate registry-style weddings to fully bespoke celebrations.
Simple Ceremony – a short, no-fuss legal ceremony for up to eight guests (including children).
Classic Ceremony – a more traditional ceremony with extra time and structure, held in one of the council’s ceremony rooms (guest numbers up to room capacity).
Distinctive Ceremony – a bespoke, celebrant-led legal ceremony, available in ceremony rooms (9 locations) or at a licensed venue (approximately 170 approved venues).
Couples must give legal notice and then wait 28 clear days before the ceremony can take place (the schedule is issued on day 29 and is valid for 12 months), with notice potentially extended up to 70 days if one or both partners are subject to immigration control. Two witnesses are required (and, depending on the ceremony style, up to six can be listed for schedule signing).
Ceremonies can be held in council ceremony rooms across Cornwall, with 12 registration offices and dedicated ceremony rooms at all except Newquay, Saltash and Falmouth; since April 2022, civil weddings and civil partnerships in England and Wales can also legally take place outdoors within the grounds of a licensed venue, subject to venue licensing and planning.
